LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 20, 2008) - On June 24, 2008, the National Veterans Foundation will host a benefit screening of Edward Nachtrieb’s documentary “All the Way Home” at 7:30 pm the new CAA screening room in Los Angeles. The screening will be followed by a brief Q & A session with Filmmaker Edward Nachtrieb and the President and Founder of the National Veterans Foundation (NVF), Shad Meshad. A cocktail reception will follow.

“There hasn’t been a movie or a documentary or a creative piece like this that has moved me so much” says Shad Meshad. This documentary is a one of a kind film that follows a Montana fishing outfitter and his team of volunteers while they take severely injured Iraq and Afghanistan Vets from Walter Reed down an isolated river. It is a powerful film which is highly praised by the NVF. Wendell Guillermo, A NVF “Lifeline for Vets” phone counselor, who is also a veteran of two Iraq tours of duty, said the film “gives a true perspective of what veterans are going through and what people, anyone can do for those vets.” He hopes people will support the NVF because ‘there are people here who care.”

Attending the benefit screening will be Bruce Cohn, Manager of The Doobie Brothers and founder and proprietor of B.R. Cohn Winery. Bruce Cohn is a generous supporter of the National Veterans Foundation as well as other philanthropic organizations. He will honored by the foundation at the screening and will be donating a number of products for the silent auction including: B.R. Cohn olive oil, vinegar and other gourmet food products, B.R. Cohn Silver Label Cabernet, B.R. Cohn Sonoma County Chardonnay and a tour and tasting at B.R. Cohn Winery. He will also donate his Doobie Red Wine which net proceeds benefit the National Veterans Association.

Funds raised at the screening will support the National Veterans Foundation and their “Lifeline for Vets” Program. The NVF “Lifeline for Vets” is a crisis hotline that has fielded over a quarter of a million calls from veterans in need of emergency medical treatment, suicide intervention, PTSD Counseling, VA benefit advocacy, food, shelter, employment training or legal aid. In less than six months, the foundation has seen an increase in call volume by more than 400%, mostly attributed to the new wave of veterans returning from Iraq. The goal of the NVF is to increase support for their call center hours from 12 hours a day to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The NVF also needs support for the Homeless Veterans Outreach Program where “Street Teams" of trained veteran counselors travel to skid row and offer help to homeless veterans.

About the Film: www.AllTheWayHomeMovie.com Three years ago, Montana fishing outfitter Mike Geary was inspired by news reports to organize fly fishing trips for disabled veterans down one of the American West’s most isolated rivers. In this film, we meet a group of veterans that reflects the diversity of challenges facing our returning soldiers. Some, on leave from Walter Reed Hospital, bear the obvious physical wounds of war while others cope with hidden traumas that are invisible, yet dangerous. With a backdrop of the breathtaking landscape of the American West, they share personal stories of war and the resulting challenges for them and their families after their return home. At the same time, a team of volunteers works tirelessly to make the trip an unforgettably positive experience.

About the Filmmaker: Filmmaker and journalist Edward Nachtrieb's background includes series television, commercials and international photojournalism. For the last three years, Ed has served as Supervising Producer and Director for the Travel Channel’s “John Ratzenberger’s Made in America.” He skipped season five of that show to make the time to produce “All The Way Home.” Prior to his career in Los Angeles, Ed was based in New Mexico where he created documentaries focused on Native American health issues as well as music videos and commercials. Ed’s still photography has been featured in magazines and newspapers worldwide. As Reuters Chief Photographer in China from 1987 through 1989, he documented the massacre of pro-democracy protesters in Tiananmen Square and its aftermath as well as ethnic unrest in western China and Tibet.
