All Day Event Organized by Growing Group of Iraq/Afghanistan War Veterans at Sierra College

Rocklin, CA: Two of America’s leading authorities on the Iraq War and veterans readjustment issues will visit Sacramento on September 28th to keynote an all day event spotlighting area Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans making the often difficult transition back to civilian life.

The Road Home…From Combat to College and Beyond,” will take place on the campus of Sierra College in Rocklin, where more than 200 veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are already enrolled---with that number expected to grow by more than 20% in the next year.

(June 20, 2008) - On June 24, 2008, the National Veterans Foundation will host a benefit screening of Edward Nachtrieb’s documentary “All the Way Home” at 7:30 pm the new CAA screening room in Los Angeles. The screening will be followed by a brief Q & A session with Filmmaker Edward Nachtrieb and the President and Founder of the National Veterans Foundation (NVF), Shad Meshad. A cocktail reception will follow.

Bob Wieland, also known as "Mr. Inspiration," is one of America's premiere Christian motivational speakers and true modern day heroes. Born and raised in Greenfield Wisconsin, Bob was an all-star athlete well on his way to being a professional baseball player when he lost his legs in Vietnam after stepping on a landmine while attempting to rescue a fellow soldier. He was actually pronounced “Dead On Arrival” upon medical evacuation but for the Grace of God, Bob miraculously survived and has since accepted the calling on his life to encourage the Body of Christ wherever he goes.

WHOLE FOODS COLLECTING E-WASTE TO RAISE MONEY

FOR THE NATIONAL VETERANS FOUNDATION

Funds to go Toward a Toll-free Hotline and Outreach Services for Veterans

El Segundo, Calif., June 5, 2008 – Whole Foods Market in El Segundo will be accepting electronics items for recycling from the community in its parking lot from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday June 7 to help raise much needed funds for the National Veterans Foundation.

The money raised from the e-waste will go toward the nation’s only toll-free helpline for all veterans and their families and toward outreach services that provide veterans and families in need with food, clothing, transportation, employment, and other essential resources.

National Veterans Foundation Releases Report: “Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans in Crisis”

Los Angeles, Calif. – February 28, 2008 - A study released today by the National Veterans Foundation reports that the United States Government is shortchanging veterans benefits to the military veterans that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The report, “Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans in Crisis,” compares the benefits received by WW II, Korean, and Vietnam War veterans to today’s veterans who have served in the middle-east in order to keep this country safe from terrorists.

The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities

The 'Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities' (EBV) offers cutting edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines disabled as a result of their service supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The intent of the EBV is to open the door to entrepreneurial opportunity and small business ownership to you, by developing your competencies in the many steps and activities associated with creating and sustaining an entrepreneurial venture, and also by helping you coordinate your efforts with programs and services for veterans and others with disabilities.

EBV will be offered at Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, UCLA Anderson School of Management, Florida State University’s College of Business and Mays Business School at Texas A&M.

The Mehadi Foundation scholarships

The Mehadi Foundation is offering scholarships to United States Armed Forces veterans who served in the Iraq/Afghanistan conflict and who have struggled with drug or alcohol addiction but are now at least six months sober. The award is good for tuition at any college or trade school nationwide (international schools will also be considered).

1 award of $1000 USD and 2 awards of $250 will be given for Fall 2008 Semester/Quarter.

The deadline to apply is June 15th, 2008.
